Richard J. Kern is a shareholder in the civil litigation department of Parker, Kern, Nard & Wenzel. His primary area of practice is in insurance defense, subrogation, employment litigation and insurance coverage.
In the employment law arena, he has extensive experience representing clients in Fair Employment and Housing Act, Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act and wage and hour claims. He has particular expertise representing small local businesses and management on hire/fire issues and proactive management of employment cases. He has tried cases as both a plaintiff and defendant ranging from wrongful death, race discrimination, sexual harassment, disability discrimination, quadriplegia and catastrophic brain injury cases.
Mr. Kern is a member of the Northern California Association of Defense Counsel and a former adjunct professor of law at San Joaquin College of Law. He is a frequent speaker before insurance, employment groups and municipalities. He also acts as an Arbitrator on appointment by the Fresno County Superior Court.
Mr. Kern is a member of the Fresno County Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court Eastern District, the United States District Court Northern District and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
